The Pokémon Company has revealed major updates for Pokémon Legends: Z-A, arriving on both the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. Fans can expect fresh storylines, expanded content, and thrilling new challenges through the Pokémon Legends: Z-A – Mega Dimension DLC, launching worldwide on December 10, 2025.
A brand-new trailer, titled Pokémon Legends: Z-A – Mega Dimension | Visit a Strange New Dimension, is now streaming on the official Pokémon YouTube channel, offering a glimpse into the mysterious world of Hyperspace Lumiose and the adventure that awaits Trainers.
The new chapter opens as peace returns to Lumiose City after Team MZ’s victory—until sudden dimensional distortions emerge across town. In their midst appears Ansha, a mysterious girl accompanied by the Mythical Pokémon Hoopa, who can transform the distortions into portals leading to Hyperspace Lumiose. This mirror-world version of the city houses rare Pokémon and species that can reach levels beyond 100, known as hyper levels, making them extraordinarily strong.
Inside this alternate dimension, Trainers can encounter exclusive Pokémon, including newly discovered Mega Evolutions never seen before. The story also teases a whimsical side mission where players can collect berries to help Ansha create special donuts that awaken Hoopa’s power to open new pathways between realities.
Among the characters joining Team MZ is Korrina, the successor to a line of Mega Evolution gurus and an expert in every known Mega form. Together with Ansha and Hoopa, Trainers will take on the mysteries of Hyperspace Lumiose and protect the real world from the energy surge spilling through the portals.
Two new Mega Evolutions make their debut: Mega Chimecho (Psychic/Steel), the Wind Chime Pokémon that gains enhanced defenses and metallic resonance abilities, and Mega Baxcalibur (Dragon/Ice), whose sheer power and crystalline armor redefine the limits of Ice-type battles. The Baxcalibur Mega Stone can be earned as a reward from the Z-A Battle Club’s online Ranked Battles. Access requires a Nintendo Switch Online membership and account.
An extra side mission, titled “Shine Bright Like a Gemstone”, has also gone live, letting players acquire the Mythical Pokémon Diancie and its Diancite Stone via the Mystery Gift feature starting November 6, 2025. Finishing this mission grants Trainers the ability to Mega Evolve Diancie into Mega Diancie, the glittering Jewel Pokémon that symbolizes beauty and strength.
The Nintendo Switch 2 Edition of Pokémon Legends: Z-A takes advantage of next-gen hardware, delivering enhanced graphics, smoother performance, and richer visual detail across Lumiose City. This edition remains fully playable on the original Switch, although exclusive features optimized for the new system will only appear when played on the Switch 2 console.
