The Vibes Asian Championship is set to take center stage at the YGG Play Summit happening on November 21–22 in Manila, Philippines. This highly anticipated Trading Card Game (TCG) tournament will bring together players from across the region, featuring a $20,000 USD (₱1.1 million) prize pool. Open to the public via online registration, the competition is limited to 128 participants, with parental consent required for minors joining the event.
Developed by Orange Cap Games, Vibes is a hybrid digital and physical TCG that integrates the globally popular Pudgy Penguins brand. The game blends strategic deck-building and accessible gameplay, inviting players to form “huddles” of penguin characters, action cards, and relics to outwit opponents. Designed for both beginners and seasoned players, Vibes combines simplicity with tactical depth—drawing inspiration from classics like Magic: The Gathering and Disney Lorcana, while adding its own playful twist rooted in Web3 innovation.
“We have the biggest tournaments and the world’s best competitors coming to the Philippines this November,” said Mike Ovecka, Head of YGG Esports, who previously managed esports for Hearthstone at Blizzard Entertainment. “Our goal is for the YGG Play Summit to become the hub of competitive Web3 gaming, and hosting the Vibes Asian Championship is a major step toward making that vision a reality.”
The tournament will follow a Swiss +1 qualifying format, leading to a top 8 single-elimination finals where players will battle for the championship crown. Competitors who rank within the top 32 will also take home cash prizes from the pool. The event will be officiated by Sashi Balakrishnan, a Level 3 certified Magic: The Gathering Judge from Malaysia, ensuring fair play and professional standards throughout the competition.
In line with YGG’s commitment to inclusivity, players may use up to 12 proxy cards per deck—substitute versions of cards they don’t physically own—so everyone can compete on equal footing, regardless of access to rare or costly cards. This rule encourages participation from both newcomers and competitive veterans alike.
To further build the Vibes community, beginner-friendly Learn-to-Play sessions and local tournaments are being held across Metro Manila. These events, led by YGG Pilipinas Metaversity Marshals, offer guided lessons, starter decks, and hands-on practice—making it easier than ever for new players to discover and enjoy the world of Vibes.
The next Learn-to-Play Events and tournaments will take place:
- October 19 — Aqua Card Games and Collectibles, Dasmariñas, Cavite
- November 8 — One Feast Cafe + Hobby Space, Cabanatuan City
