Maleficent Special Screening in Trinoma

I'm really a fan of fairy tales and live - happily - ever - after movie endings! Recently a lot of all - time favorite Disney stories were being remade in a twisted version. I actually have second thoughts of whether these are worth watching because for me nothing beats the original story no mater what!

Last Thursday, I had the opportunity to join the special screening of Maleficent in Trinoma with the rest of bloggers, press and media invited. I finally got to watch the Sleeping Beauty version from Maleficent's side. This I tell you, I loved the story more! Let me explain to you without spoiling everything so that you still have the room to see the movie yourself in the cinema theater near you.

Maleficent, is a story of greediness, true love and and forgiveness. Yes all of the movies has if not one of these but here, the lead character played by Angeline Jolie is the villain and the hero at the same time.

STELLAR GOES POP: Polecats Manila Pole and Aerial Summer Show

Polecats Manila, the country’s first organized pole dancing group, opened our studio doors and have been holding pole fitness, aerial silk and aerial hoop classes the past year. Anyone daring enough to add more spice to their workout was welcomed to the exciting sessions. More than 400 students have enrolled, with a new face popping in every day.

It is Polecats Manila's summer tradition to stage a dance recital every year. This year “STELLAR GOES POP” happens on June 7, 2013, 7:00 PM, at the AFP Theater, Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City. The show is Polecats Manila’s 4th Summer Recital and is aimed at highlighting the skills and talents of the students fondly called the Pole Kittens, Tigers and Cougars.

The show will feature our recitalists and guests doing pole, aerial silk and aerial hoop routines to pop songs from the 70s to 2000s. It will be an exhibition of art, athleticism and passion for this newly-respected art form.

We believe that every trick, climb and spin can become strength, grace and art. As a performance group, Polecats deliver fluidity in motion, with performances that fuse ballet, jazz and gymnastics. Every performance is a reminder that the extraordinary is our specialty.

The Kiping in Pahiyas Festival, Lucban Quezon

The "kiping" decoration in the houses during Pahiyas Festival makes the Lucban, Quezon's fiesta uniquely famous around the country. I mean sure there are good - looking plants, flowers, vegetables, fruits and other ornaments that make up the whole beauty of the house's facade but it is the kiping that symbolizes the artistry of the locals. A skill that is passed from generation to generation only found in this town.

Imagine the Pahiyas Festival being celebrated on the 15th of May every year without it.  I think it will look just the same as the rest of what we all see in a fiesta somewhere.

I am dedicating this post solely  about keeping because this is one of the many traditions that we make the Philippines rich in culture and heritage. Also I heard of a few people wanting to commercialize the use of artificial kiping.

The Pahiyas Festival in Lucban, Quezon

The Pahiyas Festival in Lucban, Quezon is one of the best fiestas in the Philippines. Instead of street dances as the highlight of the celebration like those seen among other known local festivals in the country, the main attraction here are the facades of the houses decorated by "kiping", an edible leaf - shaped rice wafer usually formed into beautiful multi - colored chandeliers locally known as "aranya".

The of the facade is decorated by the house owner's biggest and good - looking harvested fruits, vegetables, plants and sometimes livestock like fish and chicken!

This is celebrated every 15th of May and I am so thankful to be there personally to join the people of Lucban, Quezon as the day of honoring San Isidro Labrador, the patron saint of the farmers but actually he is not their town's patron saint. I am really amazed to see the long lines of houses colorfully and artistically decorated in all sorts of shapes, sizes and styles.

Mabuhay Restop's Manila Vanilla Show and the Get Comet Jeep

I've heard a lot of people and groups calling themselves as our country's advocates in many ways. But for a restaurant, it is quite a few to find one among others that embodies the entrepreneurial spirit and at the same time active when it comes to promoting the many advocacy of our country.

One good example is the Mabuhay Restop Travel Cafe and Museum, a unique kind of restaurant located along Rizal Park in Roxas Boulevard that promotes the Philippine cultural heritage through food, tours, shows, art and other attractions.  Last Saturday night, I am lucky to join a dinner with media personalities and four of the Miss Earth winners 2013 to watch one of its hilarious and funny show entitled "Manila Vanilla".

Ilocos tour package, itinerary and accommodation reviews

I have been to Ilocos many times for different reasons: from personal trips to a holiday getaway and even as a venue for an international conference on tourism.

But I must say that I still have not had enough of what Ilocos has as a destination. I still would like to visit this place over and over again. A trip
here is like going on a one - stop shop because for 3 days and 2 nights, you can have a good combination of nature, heritage,, outdoor activities and food all together!

Located in the northwest of Luzon, it only takes approximately 10 hours to get here from Manila by land and 45 minutes by air. If you think you don't have the patience to travel via bus or private vehicle for 10 hours, the most ideal time of departure is around 9pm of the night before your trip so that you can just sleep away for the whole duration and reach Ilocos as you wake up in the morning of around 7am.

Wakeboarding at CamSur Watersports Complex, Camarines Sur

On our way back to Manila from Caramoan, we did a side trip to one of the most popular tourist destinations in Bicol, the CamSur Watersports Complex in Pili, Camarines Sur for wakeboarding fanatics. This type of sports is not a typical outdoor activity that most Filipinos are into but the people behind these were able to pull it off.

Wakeboarding is a sports which involves which involves riding a wakeboard over a body of water. This kind of activity was born out of combining 3 sports: water skiing, snowboarding and surfing.

Caramoan island - hopping tour itinerary, how to get there and other things to do

The islands of Caramoan in Camarines Sur,  Bicol rose to fame in 2008 when it became a favorite shooting venue by the international reality TV series "Survivor".  The list of the countries that filmed in this exotic strings of beach are:  India, France, Israel, Serbia, Bulgaria, Sweden, Norway, Netherlands, Denmark, Belgium and in 2013 is the USA.

When we went there last week of April, the locals informed us that by May two European countries are also set to film there own Survivor series: Holland and Polland. They said we are lucky that we visited Caramoan ahead of their shooting schedule because some of the islands are closed to the public by that time. While we are lucky that we get to check out all these beautiful islands, I would also love to have a glimpse of any of the current Survivor's crew and cast.

We also offer a 3 day and 2 night Caramoan tour package if you don't have time to prepare your own trip. We suggest you to join our regular tour which includes a roundtrip van to save on cost. The departure is every Thursday 9PM then back to Manila 12mn of Sunday.  For more details like itinerary and rates please click here.
