One of the reasons why I travel is because of food. I am definitely not that tourist who goes to a new destination and eat at Mc Do, Jollibee or 7/11! The only problem is that when I go back home I have a "separation anxiety" to my favorite Filipino delicacies and sweets. I wished so many times that there's actually a pasalubong shop in Manila that carries most of the pasalubong food and some local food I crave in every Philippine province I visited. You know what, after seven years of backpacking I just learned that there's actually a pasalubong store in Manila that is the answer of my prayer!
SITSIRYA Sari Sari's history
SITSIRYA Sari Sari is a established 30+ year-old pasalubong shop in Manila and slowly spreading its wings around the Philippines. Founded by Eufrace Ocampo, SISIRYA Sari-Sari is a rags-to-riches story. Mr. Ocampo shared to us the story behind the success of his chain of pasalubong outlets in the country. Broke and unemployed during EDSA revolution, he was finding ways how to support his family. The money or capital he used to start the business which is only Php 10, 000 came from the fund of the wake of his wife's father. He got the idea of selling "pasalubong" or any kind of sweet-tasting food brought at home from his daughter who would always ask him what is his gift whenever he comes home.
SITSIRYA Sarisari's Touching Side
Whenever I feature brands on my blog, I don't just focus on its products and services. I always make it a point to get to know its advocacy or bigger purpose more than the fact of making money. Giving someone his/her favorite food whether it is a childhood choice or a reminisce of a loved one's similar cooking is SITSIRYA Sari sari's deeper advocacy.
