Review of HotelQuickly, Your Last - minute Hotel Booking App

A visit to a coworking space for the launching of a travel app a few days ago made me reminisce my backpacking trip around the country during weekends and my VL's in 2012. I have actually another blogging invite offered to me days ago but because this is from a very promising startup and advocates entrepreneurship which are two things I am passionate about, I said to myself I should not miss this.

It is quite a risk being a solo female traveler like me who juggles a night job, blogs and runs an online travel shop part time. I remember the times when I was round-the-clock arranging hassle-free trips from tours to accommodation to other people that I find no time  to take care of my own anymore. The result is that I am at many times left with no hotel to stay. One instance is during my 5-day trip to Palawan. I was so freakin busy that I only started looking for a place to stay in Puerto Princesa and El Nido just right after the plane landed. I was asking the staff from the airport to the locals I meet to let me know an affordable hotel to stay there. Oh please do not do this. I would never, ever recommend. Same thing happened in my trips to Cebu, Cagayan de Oro and when I decided to spend a night to Malaysia. I together with a friend originally intended to just drop by there from Singapore for the whole day but plans changed. We were cramming to find an accommodation like crazy.

How I wish this app could have already existed that time so that I would have not "suffered "a lot of inconvenience along the way.  Named as HotelQuickly,  this is a last-minute hotel booking app for hotels (3-star to 5-star) for two.  Meaning you have to book at least 24 - 48 hours prior to your stay or what we call, same - day booking.  This is not the app you turn on to if you are planning for your dream vacation way ahead of time. This is actually for frequent travelers,  to those who basically have no time  to find one or situations that we need to book in the nick of time.

Launched in March 2013,  it now has over    5, 000 hotel partners that promises its users savings of average of 28% lower than the best prices online. It is free so I downloaded it right away to try it and I really liked its simple yet straight-to-the point features.   Since they understood that the nature of people booking here are in a hurry, what shows up are hand-picked best rated 3-star to 5-star hotels. I love its interface where at the first glance I see a map where the hotels are represented by its rates and its geographical location from where I am.  I don't have to scan through heaps of hotels and of course isn't most of the time we always base our decisions from price?

Just for a few taps, HotelQuickly really made everything easy.  Now in my coming trips whether I am prepared or not, I would not worry too much of what hotel I would stay even if I get one a day before my flight. I actually did a real-time hotel search to Bali (will be going there this June) then compared the price from another competitor, yes they are really true to their 28% average less price.

HotelQuickly is currently available in Australia, Cambodia, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Macau, Malaysia, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Myanmar, Thailand, Laos and Vietnam. It can be downloaded via Android, iPhone, and BlackBerry 10 devices.
