At Savoy Hotel Manila, we celebrate more than just milestones—we celebrate the incredible individuals who make our workplace a second home. This Mother’s Day, we are honored to share the inspiring story of one of our very own: Jenelyn Chiong, our dedicated Cluster Financial Controller. Known affectionately as “Jen,” she is not only a pillar of strength in our organization but also a loving mother, a faithful servant in church, and a Masteral student pursuing her MBA. How she manages to do it all in a packed week is nothing short of remarkable.
Personal Journey & Reflections
Jen is a proud mom to two children—a 19-year-old daughter and a 15-year-old son. Watching them grow into responsible and God-fearing individuals has been her most rewarding experience as a mother. Both are achievers in school and are active in church and at home, which fills her heart with deep pride.
When asked to describe her approach to motherhood, she chooses four powerful words:
Sacrifice – From sleepless nights to personally tutoring her kids through grade school, Jen has given her all. Despite her demanding work, she has always prioritized being present for her children’s learning and growth.
Faith-Driven – At just four years old, Jen survived a traumatic car accident. Since then, she has lived what she calls her "second life" in service to God. Her spiritual commitment has shaped her role as a mother, guiding her children toward lives of faith and purpose.
Empowering – Jen believes in raising independent, resilient children. She encourages them to face challenges head-on and grow stronger through adversity.
Nurturing – Her natural tendency to care, even after a long day’s work, remains one of her defining traits. For Jen, nurturing is love in action—a commitment that will never end, even as her children grow.
Family & Values
Integrity, resilience, and respect are the cornerstones of Jen’s parenting philosophy. She teaches her kids to stay true, recover from life’s lows, and treat others with empathy and kindness. “Respect is earned,” she says, “no matter what age.”
Balancing work and family life is a daily dance. With no household help, Jen relies on proper planning and a clear set of priorities. Saturdays are spent in class as she works toward her MBA, and Sundays are reserved for church, where she serves as a commentator during Mass. Household chores, especially laundry, are all part of her routine—but with the help of her supportive husband and children, the load becomes lighter.
Challenges & Triumphs
The most challenging chapter of Jen’s motherhood journey came early, when her children were infants and childcare was scarce. Resigning from work was a tempting option, but with financial needs in mind, she stayed the course—with tremendous support from her parents, who traveled from the province to help raise their grandchildren. To this day, she remains deeply grateful to them.
In high-stress moments, Jen breathes deeply, prays, and powers through. “I let stress become useful, not distressing,” she says. Her advice for new mothers? Be dynamic, prioritize your family, and take care of yourself—because only a healthy, happy mom can raise a thriving family.
Inspiration & Legacy
Her greatest inspiration is her own mother—whose kindness and strength still guide her today. Her children’s dreams, too, fuel her motivation and push her to keep growing, learning, and striving.
Church service is her favorite way to relax and recharge. For fun, the family enjoys simple joys—walking around their village, visiting the mall, eating out, or traveling back home to Bicol to visit her parents.
