White Banana Manila is a hostel. Yes, that is correct. Of all the places, I never really thought this pet-friendly hostel is real in Makati. I do not know about White Banana Manila until a guy from Couchsurfing who messaged me back in February said he is staying here. I am one of the OG's on Couchsurfing - a Facebook for travelers. Haven't really used this platform for a while but a doglover from Europe sent me message about wanting to hang out with a fellow doglover.
I am a fan of Eatigo even before pandemic. I have eaten literally in dozens of restaurants because of Eatigo which is an app where you can book restaurant visits up to 50% discount during off-peak hours. Last weekend, I was browsing Eatigo again and decided to try another location than BGC. I think I have visited 8 out of 10 restaurant in BGC's that offer 50% off on Eatigo. This time, I knew I wanted a different atmosphere and of course a different taste.
A quick glance brought me to a list of restaurants in Makati particularly in Poblacion that offers 50% off. One of them is White Banana Rooftop Cafe of White Banana Manila. It says PET-FRIENDLY specifically and so the furmom in me was so happy that I literally screamed. I bring my well-behaved, fully vaccinated and potty-trained dog whenever and wherever possible.
The White Banana Rooftop Bar is located in the 6th floor. I love that it is spacious with indoor and outdoor seats. I love the local decors, wooden tables/chairs and those fake plants. This vibe literally gave me a little bit of a beach vibe which is true enough because I learned later on that White Banana Hostel orginated in Siargao.
The first thing that caught me is a white and black puspin hanging out in the rooftop cafe. No wonder why it is pet-friendly! I asked the staff and I was told they are actually two cats rescued by them. These two local cats live here and they are fed properly by them.
I love that the menu of White Banana Rooftop Cafe is diverse. I even saw several plantbased (vegan and vegetarian) options. Though now that I am working on my weight gain journey, I have shifted to being a pescetarian.
The White Banana Rooftop Bar during late afternoons is almost empty. I was told that when night comes, this one is full of people mostly backpackers staying in this hostel. It is the complete opposite of what we experienced which is kind of laid back. Though I wish I can also go back during night to mingle with other people and partyyyyyyyyyyy!
I also learned from the banners posted inside the hostel premises that this rooftop bar and cafe also functions as coworking space. There is no entry fee but of course you are expected to order some food or drinks.
So there, if you are looking for a pet-friendly coworking space slash rooftop bar, you know where to go in Poblacion, Makati. I actually messaged them too on their FB fan page if they allow pets and so they said yes. This is case to case basis, I guess. For sure, this only applies to their private rooms. If you are looking for a pet-friendly hostel - White Banana Hostel may be the right one you are looking for. Ask them directly to be sure.
