Review of Petcore's Pet Cologne "Pawfume" Watermelon Pop

If you’re a pet parent who often brings your dog to crowded events, cafes, or pet-friendly gatherings, having a safe, mild-smelling pet cologne can make a big difference. That’s exactly why I tried the Petcore Pet Cologne Pawfume (Melon Pop), which I recently picked up from Petco and reviewed for our pet lovers community.

One of the first things I appreciated about this pet cologne is the watermelon scent. It’s light, fresh, and not overpowering — perfect for dogs who don’t like strong fragrances. The scent actually lasts longer than expected. In fact, after spraying it on my dog, the fragrance lingered on my hands for quite some time. I’ve even tried spraying a tiny bit on myself because it really doesn't scream that it is pet cologne at all.

Performance-wise, it does more than just make your dog smell good. After spraying it on my dog’s fur and brushing through, I noticed the coat looked smoother and slightly shinier, which is a nice bonus for grooming days.

Now, let’s talk about the ingredients — because this matters, especially if you’re promoting pet products responsibly. The base ingredients are commonly used in pet grooming and are generally considered safe. There are also plant-derived components, which is reassuring. However, there is a small amount of orange peel (citrus) listed. Citrus ingredients can cause irritation in dogs if used in large quantities, but in this formulation, the amount is low and considered safe when used properly.

It’s also important to clarify that the watermelon scent is not 100% certified organic. It’s more of a fragrance compound rather than a pure watermelon juice extract — which is very common in pet colognes and not necessarily a red flag, as long as usage is controlled.

That said, I would not recommend this for puppies, dogs with skin allergies, or dogs with anxiety or scent sensitivity. Avoid direct skin contact and focus on spraying lightly on the fur only. This is best used for healthy, adult dogs, not as an everyday product. Honestly, how many dogs need cologne daily anyway?

Overall, Petcore Pet Cologne Pawfume Melon Pop is a solid option if you want your dog to smell fresh during outings while staying mindful of ingredient safety. Use it responsibly, and it can be a great grooming add-on for social, well-loved pups.
