Malacanang of the North

Ilocos is the place up North I have visited thrice already. The most recent happened  last October was a free trip. I also brought my mom with me to tour her for 3 days and 2 nights.

I have majestic photos of Ilocos captured when I went there last year, if you want to check it out, you may click here

Having said this I decided to share  to my readers the places of Ilocos that I keep on coming back and also inviting them to see these places themselves too.

This is the third out of Ten Reasons to Visit Ilocos post I will share today.  To view my second in  Ten Reasons to Visit Ilocos"  you may click here.

Malacañang of the North or locally called as Malacañang ti Amianan, is the official residence of the late Pres. Ferdinand  Marcos and his family during his regime located in Suba, Paoay, Ilocos Norte.  It is a two = storey mansion sitting in a 5  - hectare lot. Looking from its balcony, the very serene Paoay lake can be seen. Inside and outside it is a typical old Filipino house structure just a bit bigger since it was a dwelling for the first family many years ago.   I also adore the photos of the family hanging in the walls everywhere.  They have a lot of candid moments together always caught photographed.

The First Lady, Imelda Marcos must have been a very beautiful woman in her younger years indeed! I also learned that the late Pres. Ferdinand is a very intelligent person. Actually there is another place to visit to learn more about Ferdinand's life since child, to being a dignified lawyer then becoming the President of this country at Marcos Museum and Mausoleum. His dead body wrapped by wax for preservation has been lying there for more than 20 years only to be buried if granted by the current government at National Heroes' Cemetery as requested by his family. Make sure that when you go to Ilocos, never miss to visit any of these!

Me enjoying the view from inside

Lots and lots of tables/chairs

My mom poses behind the beds of the presidential children
Malacañang of the North is one of the many properties of the Marcos family seized back by the Philippine government when he was austed from his position. This museum is now being managed by the Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte.

The Paoay Lake

Malacañang of the North  is open from 9AM - 4PM on Tuesdays - Sundays. Entrance fee is Php 20.00 for the maintenance of the mansion. It is located in Laoag City, the capital of Ilocos Norte.
