2015 MASSKARA FESTIVAL in Bacolod City, Schedule of Activities, Accommodation, How To Get There and Things To Do

It's the time of the year again for one of the biggest, most colorful and happiest festivals in the Philippines! The Masskara Festival 2015 is soon to happen on October 15th to 19th. Last year I am supposed to join the Masskara fiesta celebration for a 4-day all - expense paid trip courtesy of one of my travel partners. This would have been the second time to visit Bacolod, the City of Smiles but October of last year I just started my training in my full - time job. I cannot afford to be absent or else I will lose it.  The first time I have been here was when I did a solo backpacking across Iloilo and Guimaras in 2013. I just miss this place and really looking forward to come back again.

I am actually starting to organize tour packages in Bacolod, Negros including the nearby Iloilo and Guimaras in addition to the Masskara Festival celebration.  For the past few years I have been very glad to bring a lot of tourists to see how beautiful MassKara Festival is.

How to go to  Bacolod
By plane, Bacolod City  is only an hour away and about 30 minute from Cebu through Bacolod-Silay International Airport.  Cebu Pacific, Air Asia, PAL and Jet Star are all ready to fly you there. By ferry ride from Manila it is at most 17 hours and like me I went through Iloilo which only took an hour.

Where to Stay In Bacolod / List of accommodation options
I recommend Ong Bun Pension House, I got a very single room with aircon and tv room for Php 500 that time. Please ask them there latest rate. Since this is a festival season, expect everything is higher than usual unless you booked way, way ahead. For a more diverse range of hotel options I recommend Agoda.

Things To Do / What To See In Bacolod
Balay Negrense
Negros Museum
Christmas Village
The Ruins
Negros Showroom
Jojo Vito Designs Gallery
Bacolod Provincial Lagoon
San Sebastian Cathedral
Bacolod Public Plaza

Bacolod and its nearby cities Silay and Talisay in Negros Occidental are truly a threshold of our country's heritage and culture because of so many ancestral homes showcasing Filipino, Spanish and American architecture.  We will also have you try design your own MassKara by visiting Jojo Vito Designs Gallery!

I recommend adding Iloilo and Guimaras in your trip there, it will be a near perfect trip for its fine beaches!  You can see here the complete itinerary.
