DIY 7K Budget + Itinerary 5D4N To El Nido: Where to stay, What to do and Tour Contacts in Palawan

Palawan, Philippines
DIY ITINERARY TO EL NIDO PALAWAN

Having visited Palawan thrice, I feel so blessed to be able to explore its beauty. Palawan wouldn't get the top notch for World's Best Island, even beating Boracay and Maldives for nothing. I have solo backpacked El Nido on my birthday 3 years ago, spent 6 nights in Puerto Princesa last June and speechless to have spent another 7 nights in Coron. While I'm done doing a few of travel guides for Puerto Princesa and Coron is still yet to be penned, I have been looking to update my El Nido travel guide.  That's why I am so happy to have met online Genevieve Cheung. She just came from a 5d4n El Nido travel with Php 7k budget only that includes airfare!

Q & A with her

1. Can you tell me about yourself: where do you live,
your work, when did you start backpacking and anything you want us to know about you Hi! I'm Vieve, 21, fresh graduate from UST Faculty of Pharmacy (hopefully by March next year RPh na). Just a simple city girl that craves for adventure. Started backpacking when I was in 2nd year college. My friends and I DIY'ed Boracay back in 2013. Really fell in love with what nature can offer to us, it sparked my sense of adventure. I also enjoyed the freedom and independence I got from it, ever since then I started planning for more trips!

2.  Impressive! May we know how were you able to grab that seat sale of AirAsia? Can you share us your tips of how do you learn whenever there are sale? Do you check their FB fan page always, subscribed to their newsletter or tsambahan lang talaga?
I always make sure to check my email for any alerts of Piso Seat Sales from AirAsia and I follow/subscribe all their social media channels.

Here are some "abanger" tips:
*Set your Facebook setting to notify you whenever they post something (set them as "Priority First" in your newsfeed).
*Usually they post clues or hints a day before a seat sale.
*Get ready to browse the website during wee hours because they usually release promo tickets at 12 midnight. Walang tulugan!
*Fast internet!!!

For ease of booking:
*Make an account and save all necessary infos needed such as full name and birthdate.
*Schedule dates that you are free ahead of time.
This is to avoid downtime such as typing each info. Seat sales are LIMITED so time is literally worth every dime here.
To get the cheapest airfare:
*try to book 6 months in advance and during weekdays. Weekend seats are not usually included in the piso fare.
*If you won't need it, you can also remove baggage inclusions, meals, insurance, and seat selections in order to exclude extra expenses. This will only leave the actual airfare and travel tax (for us it only amounted to P100+ plus P250 processing fee).
*For the payment, I always choose the third party option since the processing fee is cheaper than using credit card. Hehe.
Lastly, DASAL. Dasal lang talaga sana hindi mag error pag dating mo sa final step (Pray that there'll be no website error when you're at the final process/step)

3. As a travelling couple who does the itinerary, who books the flight and who manages the budget?
Me. Me. Me. From planning where we will be going to last minute preparations. Hay nako . Kidding!  I do everything since I enjoy organizing and planning our trips, and reading blogs of fellow travel enthusiast. My friend just recently invited me to DIY Travel PH. If I have known this group before, I think everything would have been much easier. Ang hirap kaya ng walang matanungan, especially if the blog is already outdated (which mostly are).

4. You stayed at Krizma Inn right? How did you know about it? Did you booked it through Agoda, saw online or referred by friends?
I read it from a travel blogger while researching for our El Nido trip. Titled as "Discover El Nido, Palawan: The Ultimate Travel Guide" (http://www.travelinboots.com/philippines/el-nido-palawan-travel-guide/). Everything is complete and has updated contacts which is very helpful for a DIYer. She also categorized accommodations base on their price range but not compromising comfort and quality. This is where I found Krizma Inn, she reviewed it among the top 3 budget inns. (UPDATE: I just recently visited her blog again and wala na yun Krizma Inn. Iba na rin yun pagka categorize niya ng hotels)

5. Where is your previous travel? What provinces of the Philippines or countries outside have you been? Saan ang next gala nyo?
Mostly Luzon palang since we're students/fresh grads palang. Isa isa muna. For our first trip in 2017, we're going to Crystal Beach Resort in Zambales next month (recommended in DIY facebook group). Hopefully we can travel to Cebu or Davao next. We are looking forward to visiting all 81 provinces ❤

6. How long did it took you guys to decide yes that you're to going
to el nido. How many months or this biglaan lang?
We were already planning El Nido wayyyy before kahit out of budget. I mean, who wouldn't right? Listed among the World's Most Beautiful Beaches ba naman . Then the opportunity came, I booked a P350/pax airfare; it made the decision final. After that, there's no turning back

More DIY tips
I think it's safe to allot around 8k-9k for this trip. Matakaw lang talaga kami + inom + pasalubong kaya sumobra sa 5k 😂
Also hindi na kami nag Puerto Princesesa, we wanted to enjoy El Nido talaga. And hindi kami nadissapoint sa ganda ng El Nido!!! 😍 Sagarin na kasi mahaba din byahe to El Nido e. Allot 1 day for land travel.
Baka you can do this trip in less than 7k pa kasi I read na pwede pala joined tour (TourA + C) in 1 day. Kaso nga lang madali, you can't savor the view/experience.
Made this iti by myself, through google + reading budget travel blogs. Hindi ko alam may DIY group na pala halos kakasali ko lang 😅.
Anyway, wanted to share this trip since madami dito nag a-ask regarding El Nido.
🗺To more travels in 2017!!!
