If you’re looking for pet friendly hotels in Makati, this Coro Hotel review might help you decide. Our overnight stay at Coro Hotel was completely unplanned—we booked one day and checked in the very next. This is sponsored by my younger brother doctor moving to the US next month. Our sister is visiting over with her baby and husband so he thought why not treat us before his trip. We were a group of four adults plus a baby, and of course, my dog. Because it was last-minute, we didn’t have time to compare prices via Klook or Agoda and decided to book directly with the hotel's website.
One of the main reasons we chose Coro Hotel is that it allows small to medium pets. There is no pet fee, which already sets it apart from many pet friendly hotels in Poblacion, Makati. There is, however, a refundable pet deposit amounting to PHP 4, 000, which I gladly paid. I’m happy to share that the full amount was refunded upon check-out since my dog behaved well—no damage, no chewing, and no accidents inside the room. But wait, there's more to tell below! Keep on scrolling down.
When we arrived, we were informed that the designated pet-friendly room assigned to us wasn’t quite ready yet, which surprised me because I had already mentioned multiple times—during booking and through follow-up landline calls—that we would be checking in with a dog. Coro Hotel has specific rooms for guests with pets, so I assumed everything was prepared ahead of time. That said, the wait was relatively short, around 10 to 15 minutes, and it didn’t cause any major inconvenience. My personal take is that the original room may not have been available at that moment, and instead of making us wait longer, they offered a bigger room that was already ready. I appreciated the practical solution, especially since we were traveling with a baby and a dog.
The check-in process did have a minor hiccup when it came to the pet deposit payment, mainly due to inconsistent information at the front desk. I initially handed over my debit/ATM card, but one staff member explained that debit cards aren’t accepted for deposits and that credit cards are preferred because the amount will be reversed. I went back to the sofa where my bag is to get my credit card instead.
When I returned, another staff member assisted me. She said she doesn’t really recommend using a credit card since reversals can take some time but couldn’t give a clear timeline. I said if it is not going to be more than month, I am fine with it. So she swiped my credit card but the payment terminal asked for a PIN! Like, what the heck?!I don't know who among them is telling the truth. If it is asking pin, then it is debit card that should be used. Since I don't want to take things longer, I said I will just pay cash.
To avoid further delays, I chose to pay the deposit in cash instead. Thankfully, there’s an ATM just a three-minute walk away, and while the process took about 10–15 minutes to resolve, everything was eventually settled.
The room itself was clean, comfortable, and relaxing. The air-conditioning worked perfectly, there's bath tub, hot shower, beds were cozy, and it felt like a good space to unwind after a long day. One thing worth noting in this Coro Hotel review is that the TV is not a smart TV, so it can’t connect to Wi-Fi as per the guy who I talked with via the hotel's telephone. I don't watch TV for years now and cannot see the difference between a smart TV and opposite. However, my sister and brother in law said they think this is smart TV after checking the settings. Their one year old baby loves watching Miss Rachel cartoon show so it was a bummer for them. Also, towels, slippers, shampoo, and toiletries were initially set up for two guests, even though our booking was clearly for four. We requested two more for each of these, which were provided, but it’s something families or groups might want to keep in mind.
Booking directly also came with a few perks: 15% off full-body massages at their in-house spa, 10% off dining at Coda Wet Bar and Mezzo Food Hall, and complimentary cocktails. At first, the free cocktails were limited to two persons even though we were four adults. I raised this politely saying it is better they offer this only to guests of 2 persons. I told them how does it feel to stay here for a group of 4 but only 2 got some free drinks via the hotel phone. Short after and not expecting anymore, they called back to extend the complimentary drinks to 2 more —a thoughtful gesture that showed they do take guest feedback seriously.
What truly stood out for me—and what makes Coro Hotel one of the better pet friendly hotels in Makati—is how inclusive they are with pets in common areas. Dogs are allowed at the pool area (as long as they don’t swim), at Coda Wet Bar, and in other shared spaces.
For breakfast the next day, we decided to skip the buffet (PHP 700 per person didn’t feel practical for us since we don't eat too much) and ordered food via Grab (including dinner the night before). Our plan was to eat breakfast by the pool, then take a dip and enjoy the sunny morning view. Before doing so, we confirmed with housekeeping staff, who told us that bringing outside food to the pool area was allowed as long as Coda Wet Bar was still closed. Since the bar opens at 10:00 a.m., we brought our breakfast around 8:00 to 9:00 a.m., fully expecting to be done before it opened.
However, while we were already eating, a staff member from Coda Wet Bar approached us and informed us that outside food wasn’t allowed and that there would be a PHP 500 corkage fee. This was surprising—and honestly a bit frustrating—because we had just been told otherwise. She said she would check with her manager, and after about five minutes, she returned and told us it was okay to continue since the bar is still closed. While the situation was resolved, it did highlight a recurring issue during our stay: miscommunication among staff, similar to what we experienced during check-in. This didn’t affect our stay significantly, but better internal coordination would definitely make the experience smoother.
One final tip for future guests: if you’re particular about maximizing your hotel stay, try to arrive 15–30 minutes before the official check-in time. Ideally, by 2:00 p.m., you should already be inside your room enjoying what you paid for, rather than waiting around.
Overall, despite a few minor operational hiccups, this Coro Hotel review reflects a positive, practical, and genuinely pet-friendly staycation. If you’re looking for pet friendly hotels in Poblacion, Makati that don’t charge a pet fee and allow dogs in common areas, Coro Hotel is definitely worth considering—and yes, we’d happily stay again.
FYI. If your dog is large, I suggest staying at Seda Residences Makati. Click HERE my review about our staycation with my dog.
