The Pokémon Company has shared new updates regarding the upcoming Nintendo Switch title Pokémon Legends: Z-A, its enhanced Pokémon Legends: Z-A – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition, and the newly announced Pokémon Legends: Z-A – Mega Dimension DLC. Along with the announcement, a brand-new video highlighting the Mega Dimension content has been released on the official Pokémon YouTube channel. Fans can watch the latest trailer titled “Pokémon Legends: Z-A – Mega Dimension | Mega-Evolved Pokémon Roundup!” through this link: https://youtu.be/bSKDEJzYW4s.
One of the major highlights of the Mega Dimension DLC is the appearance of Mega Garchomp Z, a powerful Mega Evolution of the Mach Pokémon Garchomp. Unlike the standard version of Garchomp, Mega Garchomp Z remains constantly airborne. Its wings have grown much larger and are lined with large, intimidating claws along their front edges. From high in the sky, Mega Garchomp Z locks its sharp gaze onto its target before striking. It also develops small wings on the sides of its head, which further improve its flight ability and allow it to move more efficiently in battle.
Compared to previously discovered Mega Garchomp forms, Mega Garchomp Z is even more skilled in combat styles that rely on speed and aerial mobility. Another major difference is its typing. Mega Garchomp Z is now a pure Dragon-type Pokémon, losing the Ground typing associated with the standard Garchomp. Its Dragon-type energy has intensified, allowing it to remain hovering in the air almost constantly. Because it attacks while flying, its Dragon-type moves gain additional momentum, making them faster and more powerful during battles.
Players will also be able to encounter Mega Garchomp Z through a special event tied to a hyperspace distortion in the Mega Dimension DLC. Beginning February 27, players can claim a Mystery Gift in Pokémon Legends: Z-A that will allow them to detect a special hyperspace distortion. Within this distortion, players can challenge Mega Garchomp Z in battle. Successfully defeating it will reward players with a Garchompite Z stone, which enables a Garchomp holding the stone to Mega Evolve into Mega Garchomp Z.
To encounter this special distortion event, players must first claim the Mystery Gift by selecting Get via Internet from the Mystery Gift menu and choosing the option labeled “Special distortion detected.” After claiming the gift, players can travel to Lumiose City, where the hyperspace distortion will appear. Entering the distortion allows players to battle Mega Garchomp Z. While the Mystery Gift can be claimed without purchasing the DLC, players must own the Mega Dimension DLC to access the hyperspace distortion event in the game.
The Pokémon Company also confirmed that Pokémon Legends: Z-A will soon be compatible with Pokémon HOME. Once connected, players will be able to transfer Pokémon from their team in Pokémon Legends: Z-A to Pokémon HOME, as well as bring select Pokémon from previous Pokémon titles into Lumiose City. However, Pokémon transferred from Pokémon Legends: Z-A cannot be moved back into earlier Pokémon games in the series.
Additionally, players who deposit Pokémon caught in Pokémon Legends: Z-A into the Nintendo Switch version of Pokémon HOME will receive special rewards in the mobile version of Pokémon HOME. These rewards include Alpha Chikorita, Alpha Tepig, and Alpha Totodile, allowing players to adventure alongside these powerful Alpha Pokémon.
In the future, players will also be able to send certain Pokémon they befriended in Pokémon Legends: Z-A to Pokémon Champions using Pokémon HOME. As part of a special promotion, players who send specific Pokémon to visit Pokémon Champions will receive their corresponding Mega Stones. Sending Chesnaught will grant a Chesnaughtite, sending Delphox will reward players with a Delphoxite, sending Greninja will provide a Greninjite, and sending Eternal Flower Floette will grant a Floettite. These Mega Stones will allow players to use Mega Evolution during battles in Pokémon Champions. More details about this feature can be found on the official Pokémon Champions website at https://champions.pokemon.com/en-us/.
These new updates highlight exciting features coming to Pokémon Legends: Z-A, including powerful Mega Evolutions, hyperspace distortion events, expanded Pokémon connectivity through Pokémon HOME, and new opportunities to battle with familiar Pokémon in Pokémon Champions. Fans can look forward to exploring Lumiose City and experiencing these new adventures once the game and its DLC become available.
