For many pet owners, leaving their furry companions at home while going out can feel a little sad. That’s why pet-friendly events organized by SM Super Pets Club for SM Cinema’s special screenings are a wonderful way for owners to watch movies together with their pets. At first, I assumed the screening would happen in one of the large regular cinemas where seats are tightly packed together. That would have been difficult for pets and owners alike.
But I was pleasantly surprised.
Instead, SM Cinema used a smaller, designated screening room designed to comfortably accommodate about 10–15 seats. Each spot even had its own dog bed, giving pets their own cozy space beside their owners. There was also plenty of room between seats, making the environment relaxed and stress-free for everyone.
It was honestly very well thought out.
Small details like these made the experience feel truly pet-inclusive instead of just pet-tolerant. Great job to SM Cinema for creating such a welcoming setup for pet owners.
Disney’s Hoppers: An Animated Film With Surprisingly Deep Themes
While Hoppers is an animated movie, the storytelling actually feels very mature and layered. At the beginning, everything feels calm and picture-perfect. But as the story unfolds, reality begins to set in and the narrative takes unexpected turns.
What I enjoyed most is how the characters are not as simple as they first appear. The one you initially think is the villain might not actually be the villain after all. The plot is full of little surprises that keep the story interesting.
The story follows Mabel, a courageous character who returns to a place deeply connected to her memories and to her beloved late grandmother. This location also happens to be home to many animals — especially beavers — which adds an imaginative and whimsical layer to the story.
For an animated film, the creativity behind the writing is impressive. Even if you watch it without kids or pets, it’s still an enjoyable experience.
Fun Pet Activities Before the Movie
These activities were free to join, making the event feel even more community-driven. It gave pets a chance to explore, play, and socialize before settling down for the movie.
It’s clear that events like this are designed not just for entertainment but also to bring together pet lovers in a fun, relaxed environment.
How to Join SM Cinema’s Pet-Friendly Screenings
These Barkbuster movie screenings aren’t held every day, which makes them feel extra special. If you’re interested in joining future events:

One important thing to remember: reservations are required. Walk-ins are usually not allowed because seating is limited to ensure pets and owners have enough space.
Final Thoughts
Watching a movie with your dog beside you is such a rare and memorable experience. Between the cozy pet-friendly cinema setup, the welcoming atmosphere, and the surprisingly thoughtful Disney story, the event felt both relaxing and meaningful. If you’re a pet owner in the Philippines, this is definitely something worth trying at least once.
Because honestly, movie nights are better when your dog can come too. 🐾🍿
