My 2014: Half A Success, Half A Failure

Happy New Year my dear readers :) To tell you the truth, I have never seen a single firecracker flying up in the air during the midnight countdown. I was working in the first day of 2015. I may have missed a lot of fun from the New Year Eve's celebration but I am  never complaining. As a matter of fact, I would say I am in the best place to spend my New Year. I would rather work than stay alone in my unit because all of my roommates went home.

I never had a chance to put any round stuff like the 12 fruits in the table nor put coins in the windows to attract good luck for 2015. I am also very sad to not to be able to hang a citrus fruit in the main entrance door to attract luck for travel. Believe it or not, a few years ago a friend shared this to me - to hang this on the eve of New Year then say a little prayer that you may have countless trips onwards.

I did it out of curiosity and my travel story has begun. The next thing I knew I was travelling here and there. And most of all, my personal blog evolved into a lifestyle blog  and went on to become an online shop for local tours. This paved way for me to help other people travel at their own convenience.  I am not saying this is the sole reason why I stumbled upon travelling though. Maybe because of serendipity perhaps or this is just pure coincidence? No one knows. I don't know either. What is important now is this changed my life from a girl who is just contented in one place to a grown-up lady who dreams of travelling around the world soon.

A look back of year 2014.

My 2014 was half a success and half a failure. I was on top of my life as a freelancer until one big mistake came that happened everything. A travel business partner did not pay me back for the clients I gave her .She was so broke that even if I harass her every day, it's worthless.  It was a pretty big amount of money she owe me. I'm running an online shop that is purely bootstrapped by yours truly. When I realized there's no way she is paying me back, I knew I had to find a job for me to survive here in Manila.

The first half of the year was great. I made quite big especially last Summer. I admit there are a lot of mistakes that happened from poor management to bad decisions. How was I to know when I knew nothing about entrepreneurship?

I am still very grateful of 2014 though. I was able to join a lot of trips around the country but I am mourning for 2 trips that did not push through: my solo backpacking trip to Vietnam and another free trip courtesy of a travel business partner to see Masskara Festival in Bacolod and a side trip to Iloilo and Guimaras.

Nevertheless, I won't stop trying. Next post will be my 2015 goals :)
